No, this is not your imagination. I have actually posted another update! After almost 5 months of silence, I have made a return to my blog! Now, I bet your not particularly interested in why I stopped and why I'm continuing now - you're probably thinking I'm just lazy, and now for no reason in particular, I've decided to continued with my projects. That's half right. However, there is actually somewhat of a story in this, and I love writing, so I'm going to tell you exactly what happened.
After my failed "final" attempt with my wall climbing gloves (before the fish hooks discovery) I was rather discouraged. I was really hoping, even expecting, that they would work. But they didn't, so that disappointed and discouraged me. But then, of course, I found those fish hooks, which gave quite a bit of new hope. However, since using those would involve either taking my hooks off, or making new boards - both of which require effort - I decided to, well, not do anything with that for the time being.
However, I did continue working on my web shooters for a while after that. I've done quite a lot more to them since I last updated this blog. The reason I didn't post about my progress on here, though, is because I joined an excellent site called The RPF. I was directed to it by my highly dubious friend, William. It's very good, and I continued posting about the progress of the web shooters on there. You can read about the progress in detail here, if you wish: http://www.therpf.com/f9/working-web-shooter-182982/ I'll give an update on what stage they're at currently in a following post.
So, after I finished the brackets for the motors, I didn't want to do any more, because that would mess up my sense of accomplishment. That makes perfect sense in my head. Anyway, so, I stopped working on the web shooters a while ago.
Then, after a couple more months of inactivity, something happened.
I was free running around where I live, and as I was standing next to one of the flats, I realised that it was much rougher than bricks walls. I know I mentioned this before, and I did say that I tried them out on the walls over there in a previous post, but as it turns out, I didn't. I was on my way to the flats, but then I came across several walls which I thought were the same type, but they actually weren't. And those are what I tried them out on, but they weren't any better than brick walls.
So, after my new discovery, I concluded that my wall climbing gloves very well might actually work on the walls of the flats (like I did last time).
So I decided I would secure the hooks onto the boards more firmly than before, and try them out on those walls (however, just because I decided to do something doesn't necessarily mean that I actually did it).
That gave me a little more enthusiasm for the project, but here's the thing that really did it (and not just for that one project). My brother, who's older than me, suddenly suggested that we should make a fort out of bedsheets and chairs, like we used to do. I was rather surprised and bewildered by this suggestion, to say the least. Apparently, he has decided that we should do more childish things. His reasoning was very good. Childish things are fun. We all like to do them, secretly, but we don't, because we're teenagers, so it's not "acceptable" to do so. Teenage culture is one of the most intensely annoying, stupid and frustrating aspects of the world at the moment, so I'm more than happy to do away with it in my personal life.
So, my brother and I have decided to do more fun and active things. And I've decided to take direct inspiration from the wonderful TV show, Phineas and Ferb! Which is rather ironic, considering the summer holidays have just ended. Now with this new-found enthusiasm, I've been getting on with multiple projects at once over the past few days, with hardly any procrastination! I am very pleased with myself!
I now have a specific project in mind to do next. It is...
A flying bike!
Yes, that's right. A flying bike. I'll elaborate in a following post. For now, farewell.
